Now that you have committed to creating your business, you need a plan. But before the plan, you have some soul searching to do.
You probably want to jump into thinking about the product, getting a website up or doing something else time consuming. Start by asking 3 questions in order of importance: why? how? what? Spend 75% of your time on question 1, 20% on question 2, and 5% on question 3.
The first question you need to answer is why? Why does the world need your idea or business? In other words, what is your foundational belief? Why does your organisation exist?
I’m setting up a video studio in our home which we will open up to other local entrepreneurs. Our why?
We believe that little tweaks can have great impact; especially in communication.
This is the purpose, the foundational belief behind our passion and purpose. Our purpose is “to empower local entrepreneurs to effectively communicate their message to their audience and the world.”
Our why, the foundational belief behind this purpose, is subtly different.
If I can first engage you in purpose by communicating my foundational belief, the product, although it sits in the background, will be more easily digestible to you. Not to say the product isn’t important, but our foundational belief, our why, engages us (hooks us) more powerfully.
This then opens the door for us to explain how and… what!
The way we produce these tweaks in communication is by creating products that are easily accessible, simple to use and focused on the needs of the entrepreneur and coach.
Our studio brings everything together under one roof. Interested in taking a look?
Next time, let’s explore these two questions in more detail: “how and what”.
